    • William Dolan Lyons, 77, of Milesburg died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, in Centre Community Hospital, State College. Born Oct. 19, 1921, in Howard, he was a son of the late Clair G. and Bertha Dolan Lyons. He was a 1939 graduate of Howard High School. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the 928th Signal Battalion in the U.S. Air Force in the South Pacific. He and Relda Woomer Lyons were united in marriage June 29, 1942. Mr. Lyons was a lumberman for his father, Clair Lyons, and in 1949, he went to work for ClasterÂ's as a salesman until 1961. From 1961 to 1965, he was employed by O.W. Houtz of State College. In 1965, he went to work for Ken Teaman Mobile Home Sales, Milesburg, until his retirement in October 1998. He was an active member of the Walnut Street Church of Christ, Howard, where he was an elder emeritus. He taught Sunday school at the church for approximately 40 years. Mr. Lyons was very involved in writing the history of the church for its centennial celebration in 1998. He enjoyed woodworking, was an avid reader, and was a member of the Fillmore Hunting Camp. He also served as a tour guide at the Curtin Mansion Iron Works. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Anna L. Perry of Lock Haven; four sons, John W. Lyons of Akron, Ohio, Vaughn I. Lyons and David E. Lyons, of Milesburg, and Kelsey C. Lyons of Pleasant Gap; a sister, Lois Kotzur of Howard; a brother, Richard C. Lyons of Hornell, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Holsinger, who died in June 1997.

      Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the Walnut Street Church of Christ, Howard, for William Dolan Lyons, 77, of Milesburg, who died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, in Centre Community Hospital. The Rev. Tim Rohrbacher will officiate. Interment will be in Schencks Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 837 Main St., Howard. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Walnut Street Church of Christ, Howard, Pa. 16841. W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, Howard.
