- Decatur, IN - Alice K. Holcombe, Decatur, IN, Age 100, passed away June 27, 2018, at her residence. She was born September 3, 1917, to Charles Reed Holcombe and Nettie L. (Newlon) in Newark Ohio.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Rev. George (Renna) Holcombe and Prof. Warne C. (Harriet) Holcombe; a sister, Esther Jean Holcombe, and niece Deborah Phillips.
She is survived by nephews David Holcombe (Jeanine), Cincinnati, OH and Charles (Jen) Holcombe, Cedar Falls, IA; and niece Linda (Barry) Wicks, Ann Arbor, MI - along with many great and great great nieces and nephews.
Alice served as Library Director for Taylor University from 1946 to 1983, impacting the lives of many generations of students along the way. A devout Methodist, the church played a very important role in her life throughout her journey. She enjoyed a good book, good music - she played the marimba - and numerous good friends.
Funeral services will be Sunday, July 1, 1:30pm, at Woodcrest Retirement Home, Porter Auditorium, with viewing prior at 12:30pm till time of service.
Burial will be on Monday, July 2nd in the New Lexington Cemetery, New Lexington, OH.
