- Richard L. (Dick) Beck July 12, 1945 January 4, 2018 Richard L. "Dick" Beck, 72, of Castanea, died unexpectedly on Thursday, January 4, 2018, at UPMC Altoona. Born on July 12, 1945, in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late Lester G. and Grace Stayner Beck. Dick attended Bald Eagle Nittany High School. He was a mechanic by trade, retiring from Bob McCormick Ford in 2010. Growing up, Dick attended First Church of Christ, Lock Haven. Dick's passion was restoring Farmall tractors as well as antique cars. He owned a '59 and '64 Ford which he proudly showed at various car shows. He also enjoyed hunting, running around the woods in his dune buggy, and spending time with his family and companion, Nancy Hill. Surviving is his daughter, Sheila (John) Mahony; three brothers: Lester (Connie) Beck, of Howard, Jack (Betty) Beck, of State College, and Dean (Donna), Beck of Mill Hall; three sisters: Madalyn Sims, of Jersey Shore, Grace (Martin) Gira, of Williamsport, and Linda (Richard) Styers, of Lock Haven; a grandson, Tyler W. (Kate) Short; seven great grandchildren: Trent Michael, Tyler Wayne, Jr., Alex, Lila, Gannon, Vadia Gail, and Murphy Jean Short; his companion, Nancy Hill, of Mill Hall; a step-daughter, Tina Kester, of Bloomsburg; a step-grandson, Brandon Kester; and two step-granddaughters, Brianna Kester and Chloe Confer; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ellen Probst and Pauline Shoemaker; and a step-son, Clifton Confer. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park. Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
