- Mary D. Raguse, age 87, of Newark, IL, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2005 at the Hillside Healthcare Center in Yorkville, IL. She was born on October 4, 1917 in Newark, IL, the daughter of Jacob and Elsie (Schenck) DeLong.
Mary was united in marriage to Mr. George L. Nelson, and they spent over 40 happy years together until his passing in 1977. She was then later united in marriage to Mr. John "Bud" Raguse, and they spent eight happy years together until his passing in 1988.
Mrs. Raguse was employed, for 27 years, as a secretary by Larson Insurance Agency in Newark, IL. She was a member of the Millbrook United Methodist Church in Millbrook, IL. Mrs. Raguse was also a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mary was a farm wife for many years, and loved gardening and caring for her chickens and lambs. She was a loving wife, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by Barry and Scott Lauwers, who she and her husband George helped raise and provided a home for many years. Also by several nieces and nephews; as well as the many loving and caring friends and neighbors, who looked after her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Elsie DeLong; her brothers, Gilbert and Ellery DeLong; and her husbands, George L. Nelson and John"Bud" Raguse.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, April 11, 2005 at the Mill brook United Methodist Church in Millbrook, IL, with Reverend Jodeen Immer officiating. Interment will follow in the Millington-Newark Cemetery in Millington, IL.
Friends may call from 2:00 until 6:00 PM on Sunday, April 10, 2005 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countryside Parkway, Yorkville, IL.
