- Joseph V. Brown Sr., 80, of 724 Wilson St., Williamsport, passed away Saturday, Nov.14, 2009 at the Williamsport Hospital. He was born Feb. 3, 1929 in Elmira, N.Y. a son of Vincent and Mary Harmon Brown.
Joseph was a member of Third Street United Methodist Church in Williamsport. He served in the Army during the Korean War, and had retired from Labor Union Local #708. On October 15 he celebrated his 49th wedding anniversary with his wife, the former Betty M. Lewis.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Joseph V. (fiancee Pilar Wilson) Brown, Jr. of Williamsport, and Christopher H. Brown at home; three sisters, Mary (Jack) Atkinson of South Williamsport, Katherine (Wes) Lentz of Sebring, Fla., Martha (William) Sauers of Williamsport; and a granddaughter, Josie Brown.
He was predeceased by a brother Ed.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009 at the Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
