701 | LeRoy Edgar Dreibelbis Sr. July 29, 1922 - July 31, 2011 LeRoy Edgar Dreibelbis Sr., 89, of Pennsylvania Furnace, died Sunday, July 31, 2011, at the Hearthside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in State College. Born July 29, 1922, in State College, he was the son of the late Walter E. and Elizabeth C. Shuey Dreibelbis. On Feb. 12, 1949 he married Geraldine Vonada, who survives. He is survived by four children, Darlene Torsell and her husband, Bernie, LeRoy E. Dreibelbis and his wife, Linda, JoAnn Cunningham and her husband, Val, and Ray E. Dreibelbis Sr., all of Pennsylvania Furnace. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters. LeRoy was a 1940 graduate of State College High School. He was a member of the St. Peter's United Church of Christ, and he was on the church consistory and was an elder. He was also a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, August 4, 2011, at St. Peter's United Church of Christ with Reverend Charles Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hall Cemetery. 702 | LeRoy Jared 'Pete' Evey June 30, 1915 - January 8, 2005 LeRoy Jared "Pete" Evey, 89, of Bellefonte, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born June 30, 1915, in Pleasant Gap, he was a son of the late Jared Uriah and Minnie Twitmeyer Evey. On May 31, 1941, at the Howard United Church of Christ, he married Mary Elizabeth Moore, who survives at home. He was a graduate of State College High School. He was the former co-owner of Meadow Pride Dairy from 1946 until the late 1970s. He was a real estate agent for Corman Association and Century 21 Realtors for many years. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Bellefonte. LeRoy was a past president of the Bellefonte Rotary Club, the State College Chamber of Commerce and the Nittany Country Club. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Bellefonte and the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge Number 261 of Bellefonte. LeRoy was an avid golfer. He enjoyed traveling and was very involved in Republican politics. He was also an avid Penn State football fan. He is survived by five daughters, Sonna McDevitt and her husband, Tim, Elaine Ebeling and her husband, Ernest, Bonnie Leathers and her husband, Denny, Eleanor Hutsky and her husband, Gene, all of Bellefonte, Cynthia Nicosia and her husband, Joseph, of State College; a son, Jared L. and his wife, Kathy E., of Bellefonte; four sisters, Thelma Beck, of Lower Burrell, Blanche Dickson, of State College, Margaret Stover, of North Carolina and Betty Ann Leamer, of Boalsburg; two brothers, William, of Reston, Md., and Gaylord, of Vineland, N.J.; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and Bud; and two sisters, Lilae and Mary. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main St., Howard and from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's United Church of Christ, 145 W. Linn St., Bellefonte. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with Pastor Anne Smith officiating. Burial will be in Schecks Cemetery, Howard Township. 703 | Lester B. Carrigan, 71, of 13 E. High St., Elizabethtown, died Friday at his home after a brief illness. He was a native of Conestoga Center and early in life was employed as a window trimmer and card writer for the Watt and Shand Store and the Boylan Pearce Co., of Raleigh, NC. Later he was self employed as a public accountant and window trimmer at the Groff and Wolf Store. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Church, Elizabethtown, and was the husband of the late Josephine P. 704 | Letter dated Dec 5, 1864 from Samuel W. Hirlinger to John M. Hirlinger Samuel is in McClellan U.S. General Hospital, Ward 13, Philadelphia At this time, John is serving in Washinton, DC in the 50th NY Volunteer Engineer regiment. Samuel mentions that his he had been back in Fairmount and everything looked "old fashioned". He also mentions that his arm is not yet healed and that he might be in the hospital until his enlistment is up on Jan 18, 1865. He asks John to write back and asks him if he knows anything of Henry or Christian. I'll assume that Christian is Christian Gottfreid and that Henry is another brother. 705 | Lewis R. PLETCHER, 76, died Thursday, March 3, 1955 at home in Howard Township. He was a former employee on the highways and for the railroad. He was born in Howard Township on March 4, 1879, son of Nathaniel and Emmeline MANN PLETCHER. He was married February 18, 1911 to Amber Nadine NEFF, who survives. Also surviving are four sons and a daughter: Nathaniel, Howard; Robert who is in the Army stationed at Hunterville, Ala.; Harold, Julian; Thomas in the Navy at San Diego, Calif; and Mrs. Sylvia SHAFFER at home; brothers: Thomas A PLETCHER of Howard; Herbert and Blair PLETCHER of Howard are half-brothers. 708 | Lieutenant David Gordon Hirlinger (US Navy Retired) passed away on January 16, 2021 at Riverside Hospital. He was born November 4, 1962 in Subic Bay, Philippines. After graduating from Woodbridge High School, he enlisted in the US Navy in August of 1980, where he completed the course of instruction at OS "A" school and received his first assignment aboard the USS Vreeland (FF-1068) as an "Operations Specialist" Petty Officer. Dave quickly advanced through the enlisted ranks achieving many commendations, including "Sailor of the Quarter" once and "Sailor of the Year" twice. His many awards include the Navy Achievement Medal, The Joint Service Achievement Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and Joint Service Commendation Medal. He made five deployments during his 25 years of service, aboard the USS Vreeland (FF-1068), USS Richard E. Byrd (DDG-23), USS Ainsworth (FF-1090), USS Ticonderoga (CG-47) and USS Bataan (LHD-5). Lt. Hirlinger was accepted to and completed his training at Officer Training School and advanced to LDO (Ensign) in December, 1995. He retired from the USN in November 2005 as a Lieutenant (O3). He earned his Master's degree from Cambridge College in December 2005. He worked as a Software Test Engineer for TQI Solutions, Inc. after he retired from Military Service. Dave was a man of great faith and served his church as an Elder and Finance Officer for many years. During his life he volunteered his time with the Newport News Police Department and Virginia Special Olympics. Dave was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Ray Hirlinger, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Mary (Mayberry) Hirlinger, Ord, NE; his wife Ramona (Yanko) Hirlinger, Newport News, VA; his only son, John Hirlinger Saylor and husband Nicholas Hirlinger Saylor, Burbank, CA; two brothers Michael Hirlinger and wife Sue (Brown) Hirlinger, Burwell, NE, and Kenneth Ray Hirlinger, Jr. and wife Charon (Mader) Hirlinger, Smithfield, VA; two nieces Anne Hirlinger and Lauren Hirlinger, and three nephews Sean Hirlinger, and Jerry and Alex Herron. The family held a private service on January 23, 2021. Interment with full military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. 709 | Life-Long Resident of near Flinton Expires Last Thursday Last Thursday afternoon, September 2nd, Andrew W. Youngkin passed peacefully away at his home near Flinton. He had been ailing for the past five years, but did not give up his usual work until about a year ago. He suffered from dropsy. Andrew Youngkin was one of the best known farmers in this section. He was born on the old Youngkin homestead at Flinton on February 18th, 1844, and had lived there his entire life with the exception of one year, from 1866 to 1867, when he lived on the Weld farm in Beccaria township. Like most of the early settlers in this section, he also followed lumbering. Farming was his principal occupation and he was one of the few successful farmers of this section. Mr. Youngkin had many friends. He was a good, honest, hard working citizen, honored and esteemed by those who knew him. He was a kind husband and father, and a splendid neighbor and friend and will be missed by many. On November 14th, 1866 he was united in marriage to Miss Roseanna Heverly, who survives him. To their union were born nine children, all living, as follows: Mrs. A. T. Mellott, Mrs. Samuel Cowen, Coalport; Mrs. Ellery Lucas, Farwell; Mrs. Williams Marks, Beccaria township; Mrs. Stewart Gates, Beaver Valley; Miss Esther Youngkin, at home; Harry Youngkin, of Tyrone; David Youngkin, of Beaver Valley; and Lloyd Youngkin, of Altoona. One brother, Joseph Youngkin, of Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. Susan Fitzgibbons, of Flinton are living. Twenty grandchildren and two great-grandchildren are also living. Saturday morning at ten o'clock after brief services at the home, the remains were conveyed to the United Brethren church in Beaver Valley where services was conducted by Rev. J.F. Kelly, of the U.B. church, assisted by the Rev. J.T. Williamee, of the M.E. church. Interment followed in the Beaver Valley cemetery, undertaker C.J. Troxell, of Glasgow being in charge. 710 | Lila Rose Kuntz, 74, of Kennett Square, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at her residence. She was the wife of William R. Kuntz, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage. Born in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mildred Brobeck Conklin. She worked in the customer service department at QVC in West Chester for 10 years, retiring in 2001. Prior to that, she was self employed as a cosmetologist. Lila enjoyed crafts, painting (she was a great artist), traveling, her weekends at her summer home on the Susquehanna River and spending time with her family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Patrick J. Kuntz, and his wife, Lisa, of Landenberg, Pa.; two daughters, Renee Mills, and her husband, Gilbert, of Pittsgrove, N.J., and Lana Cornette and her husband, Richard, of Oxford; one brother, Robert Conklin of Peyson, Ariz.; and six grandchildren. 712 | Lillian Columbine Lomison, 95, of Howard, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at her home. She was born in Howard Township a daughter of the late Floyd and Violet McKean Day. She was a graduate of Howard High School. She was united in marriage to Lloyd O. Lomison Jr. on November 27, 1945, he preceded her on April 28, 1978. Lillian was a homemaker. She enjoyed flowers, birds and basically all types of animals. As a child she was raised on her families farm. Lillian was a Jehovah's Witness. She is survived by her two sons, Keith ( Kathryn ) and Kirk Lomison Sr. all of Howard, and her daughter-in-law, Connie Packer, also of Howard, and six grandchildren , nine great-grandchildren ,and three great-great-grandchildren. Along with her husband she was preceded by a son, Kent, and a daughter-in-law, Mary Lomison and a brother and sister. Private services will be at the families convenience. 716 | Linda Kay Dreibelbis Linda Kay Dreibelbis also known as Linda Kay Houser passed away unexpectedly at her home in Ft. Lauderdale, FL July 4, 2020 at the age of 38. Although her love of the ocean drew her to Florida where she lived the last several years, she grew up in Lamar PA. Chances are if you ever met Linda, you couldn't forget her. She was a beautiful person with a sparkling smile that would light up a room. Her family and friends lovingly called her "Bean." Linda graduated from Central Mountain High School in 2000 and achieved her B.S. in Criminal Law & Justice at Penn State in 2004. In recent years, she enjoyed a management position at All Out Aviation. Linda is survived by her brother James (Tammie) Dreibelbis, her sister Michelle (Brian) Saiers, her nieces Lyndsey & Autumn Force, nephew Kyle Dreibelbis, grandmother Barbara Dreibelbis, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She is also survived by her long-time partner Bryan Deak with whom she shared a home in FL. We can share in the comfort that Linda is having a happy reunion with family that preceded her including her parents Dennis & Joyce Dreibelbis and grandfather John Henry Dreibelbis Linda will be laid to rest with her parents at Mt Bethel Cemetery. 717 | Linda T. Dreibelbis July 12, 1952 - May 20, 2021 Pennsylvania Furnace, Pennsylvania - Linda T. Dreibelbis, 68, of Pennsylvania Furnace, died suddenly on Thursday, May 20, 2021. Born July 12, 1952, at the Philipsburg Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Stephan and Arleen (Mosley) Tokarchick of Belsina Mills, PA. On June 18, 1976 she married LeRoy Edgar Dreibelbis, Jr., who survives. Also surviving is her only child, Issac Hunter Lee Dreibelbis of Pennsylvania Furnace and her beloved grandson Parker Alan Martain-Dreibelbis; and sister, Ellen T. Kovalick and her children (Aleksandr, Aubree, Stephan, Anzin) of Madera. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Tokarchick. Linda was a 1970 graduate of Moshannon Valley High School. Not too long after graduating high school, Linda moved to State College, PA. There she found her career in dentistry, and committed most of her adult life to helping people with their dental care. She worked for Dr. L. Robinson, and then after his retirement, his son, Dr. J. Robinson at the company office located where the State College Borough building now resides on S. Allen St. After working there for 20+ years, Linda made a decision to work the remainder of her career as an Expanded Function Dental Assistant in Pediatric Dentistry for Dr. John Kelly and his various associate Drs. at Pediatric Dental Care of State College, PA. for 25 additional years. Upon retirement she worked part-time for Bright Star Home Health Services. Linda was the world to her family, especially her beloved grandson Parker. Together they enjoyed everything from board games to movies to the outdoors. She was the best mother that a boy could have to her son Issac, and a dedicated wife to her husband LeRoy. She stood faithfully beside her husband and son during their countless times of need without hesitation and brought them strength, inspiration, faith in God's teachings, and hope. If there was ever a person in need, Linda would give selflessly of her time to help anyone. She had a passion for writing children's books, and upon retirement, worked on several different projects. In addition to writing, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, and drawing. Linda was as faithful a Christian as someone could be, and was a member of the St. Peter's United Church of Christ where she served as an Elder and also Vice President of the Consistory. Linda had also been the Sunday School teacher at St. Peter's Church throughout the 1980's and 1990's, as well as a member of the choir at times. She never missed a Sunday at church, ever. Linda lived her life as the Bible suggested, and derived her strength from her faith in the Lord. Linda loved her family and friends unconditionally, and had an admirable devotion to those around her. She left this life completely unexpectedly, and will be sadly missed by all that knew her. A Celebration of Linda's Life will be held at St. Peter's United Church of Christ at a later date as per the family's request. Arrangements will be announced when complete.
