502 Gene A. "Snuffy" Confer Gene A." Snuffy" Confer, 78, of Howard passed away on Friday, May 17, 2019 at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Howard on April 29,1941, a son of the late Donald H. and Elizabeth Vonada Confer. Gene was a graduate of Bald Eagle High class of 1960. On October 21, 1977 he was united in marriage to Judith A. Shope. She survives at their home in Howard.He is also survived by his daughter,Tonya L. ( Ronald ) Fisher of Blanchard and two grandchildren, Clayton J. and Abagail Butler, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Paul,Ray,Edward,Richard,Donald, and Ronald, and sisters, Ruby Leathers and Janet Bowman. He was a active member of the Howard United Methodist Church, and was a post member of both the Howard V.F.W. and the Beech Creek American Legion. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and belonged to the Jacksonville Hunting Club for 59 years. Gene was employed by Corning Glass where he retired after 30 years of service. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Howard United Methodist Church,144 W. Main Street, Howard with Pastor Craig Rose officiating. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. until the service at the church. 505 George Edward Harpster December 3, 1930September 9, 2019 George E. Harpster, 88, of Pine Grove Mills passed peacefully on September 9, 2019 at Valley View Retirement Community in Belleville, PA. Born December 3, 1930, he was the son of Etta (Koch) and Howard Harpster. His brother, James, preceded him in death. On June 14, 1952, he married Edna Elizabeth Schilling of Pine Grove Mills who passed away March 20, 2010. George was a State College High School graduate and served as a corporal in the US Army during the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged in June, 1952. He retired from Penn State University. George was an avid hunter and fisherman and a lifetime member of the Buckeye Hunting Camp. He grew up in Pine Grove Mills, where he resided until 2015 and was a lifetime member of St Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Grove Mills and also a lifetime member of VFW post 245 in Pine Grove Mills, the NRA, and the National Wildlife Turkey Federation. George is survived by four daughters, Deborah Eckess (Jon) of Pleasant Gap, Glenda Yocum (Scott) of Boalsburg, Karen Campanis (Nicholas) of Rochester NY, and Charlotte Harpster (Scott Kulp), of Etters, PA. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren: Jason, Erik, Mattthew and Geoffrey Eckess, Christina Yocum Clark (Jonathan), Nicholas G. Yocum (Misty), Megan E. Biega (Aaron), and Lucas E. Yocum, Nathan, Alex, Ben and Eva Campanis, and Shannon Sylvester (Sam) and nine great-grandchildren: Abigail, Hannah, and Russell Clark, Zeke and Barrett Yocum, and Alex, Andrew, and Emma Sylvester. His sisters, Lois Andrews (James) of Newark DE, and JoAnn West of State College also survive him. With respect for George's wishes there will be no public visitation and graveside services will be private and at the convenience of the family. 506 George Hogan Long Jr., 92 of Bellefonte, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019 surrounded by his daughters. He was born on March 4, 1927 in Jacksonville, Pa. He was the son of the late George H. "Tom" Long and Edith A. Lucas Long.

George was a graduate of Williamsport Technical Institute and employed by Piper Aircraft in Lock Haven for 34 years. He held several positions there his last being Senior Conformity Inspector.

He was an Army Veteran of WWII where he served as a medic in Germany from November 1945 to Septmber 1946. He received the Army of Occupatioin Medal and WWII Victory Medal.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Margaret A. Gates Long. Surviving are two daughters, Ava Glantz of Port Matilda and Kelley Ferrara and her husband Paul of Bellefonte, 6 grandchildren, Brennan Glantz and his wife Jennifer, Tanna Boyer and her husband Mike, Joli Bernier and her husband Derek, Janette "Jani" Glantz, Jenna McGowan and her husband Joseph, Zach Ferrara and wife Lisa, and five great-grandchildren Van and Kesley Glantz, Violet and Teddy Boyer and Ryla Bernier.

The family would like to thank the many people that touched our lives by helping and caring for George in this last year.

A graveside service for the public will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at the Jacksonville Cemetery, 4135 Jacksonville Rd., Howard with the Rev. Alan S. Eckenroad officiating. Following the service a gathering for family and friends will be held at the daughter's house on Barns lane. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Main Street Methodist Church, PO Box 257, Howard, Pa. 16841 or the the Wounded Warriors Project.org. Gerald A. Hess, 75, of Allentown, died Sunday in Lehigh Valley Hospital Center. He was the husband of Edna L. (Moyer) Hess.

He was employed by the Western Electric Co., now AT&T, Allentown, for 24 years until retiring in 1981.

Born in Nescopeck, Columbia County, he was a son of the late Frederick and Iva (Hirlinger) Hess.

He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Fleetwood R.2.

509 Gerald E. 'Cotton' Holter, 78, of 20 Oriole Road, Lock Haven, died Nov. 5, 2004 in Lititz. Born Aug. 30, 1926 in Orviston, he was the son of the late Edgar A. and Velma Shawley Holter. He and Peggy L. Heller Holter were married Jan. 20, 1956. She survives. He was a 1944 graduate of Beech Creek High School and was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He retired after 42 years in the aircraft industry and drove cars for MacIntyre's, Lock Haven University and private transportation for the last 15 years. He was a member of East Main Street United Methodist Church, Lafayette Lodge No. 199, Jaffa Shrine and National Rifle Association. Surviving are three sons, David E. Eck of Lamar, Rodney P. Holter of Albuquerque, N.M. and Richard A. Holter of Lock Haven; a brother, Bruce A. Holter of Las Vegas, Nev. and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Edrie Johnson and Elaine Dickey. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004 at the Donald G. 510 Gerald L. Thompson, of 124 S. Williamson Road, Blossburg, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2011.

Gerald was born Aug. 25, 1926, in Liberty Township, Centre County, Pa. He was the son of David H. and Bessie Mae Leathers Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a graduate of Howard High School, class of 1934. He was an Army Air Force veteran, having served in the European Theater of Operations in World War II from 1941 to 1946.

He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Blossburg.

Mr. Thompson married the former Marie D. Swinsick of Morris Run, Pa. in November 1960.

They recently celebrated their 50th anniversary. In 1979, he retired as the manager of the Pennsylvania State Employment Office in Wellsboro. He owned and operated Thompson's Restaurant in Wellsboro for four years prior to working for the Employment Office.

He was a 50 year member of the F & AM Lodge 350 in Blossburg, a member of the Williamsport Consistory, and the Irem Temple Shrine. He was also a life member of the Blossburg Rod & Gun Club, the Arnot Sportsman Club, and a past service officer and life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Supreme Sacrifice Post No. 8730, Blossburg.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife; his brother-in-law, Joseph Swinsick; his nephew, John (Diane) Heffner; plus several other nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his caregivers, Rick and Sis Collins.

Private family services will be held Saturday, January 15 at 11 a.m. from the Freeberg Funeral Home, Blossburg, with Pastor Dean Edwards officiating. Burial will be at Arbon Cemetery.

Pennsylvania Furnace, Pennsylvania - Geraldine Irene Dreibelbis, 97, of Pennsylvania Furnace, died Monday, December 27, 2021, at Centre Care.
Born April 18, 1924, in Zion, she was the daughter of the late Miles N. and Bertha Weaver Vonada. On February 12, 1949 she married LeRoy Edgar Dreibelbis, Sr., who preceded her in death on July 31, 2011.
She is survived by four children, Darlene D. Torsell and her husband Bernard, LeRoy E. Dreibelbis, Jr., JoAnn D. Cunningham, and Ray E. Dreibelbis, Sr., all of Pennsylvania Furnace; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Linda T. Dreibelbis and her son-in-law, Val P. Cunningham.
Geraldine graduated from Hublersburg High School in 1940 and then attended Williamsport Business School. She worked as a secretary for 20 years at the Ferguson Township Municipal Office.
She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, where she was also a deacon, elder and Sunday school teacher.
She was a member of the Pine Hall Grange.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Friday, December 31, 2021 at St. Peter's United Church Of Christ, 1795 W. College Ave., State College, with the Reverend Dr. Renee Ford officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Hall Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Peter's United Church of Christ, 1795 W. College Ave., State College, PA 16801.

He was born in Lock Haven on Feb. 2, 1953 a son of the late Glenn L. Sr. and Audrey Lou Brungard McWilliams. He is survived by his wife, Corrine Patterson McWilliams,a daughter, Tamitha "Tammy" McWilliams of Howard, and a son Glenn "Stump" McWilliams III also of Howard. Chip was a graduate of Bald Eagle Area High and was employed with Hazel Plumbing and Heating for over 40 years. Born February 16, 1936 in Howard, he was the son of the late Oscar W. and Pauline Confer Thompson. On February 17, 2001, in Howard, he married Patricia Tate who resides at home. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lohr Thompson, who died in February 2000. Mr. Thompson was a 1954 graduate of Howard High School. He graduated from Williamsport Tech in 1957. He was a Navy veteran, having served during the Korean conflict. He was a tool and die maker at Cerro Metal for fifteen years. Mr. Thompson was also the owner of Thompson's Bait Shop & Sporting Goods and Bald Eagle Marina of Howard. He attended the Howard United Church of Christ. He was a member of the Pleasant Gap American Legion and the Loyal Order of the Moose in Bellefonte. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling. Mr. Thompson is survived by one daughter, Sherri Thompson True, of Howard; two sons, Glenn "G.T." She was born on Nov. 4, 1936, in Lock Haven, the daughter of the late William M. and Mae Delong Eaton. She married William J. Gardner in 1956. He preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 2005. She is survived by two sons, Michael, of Latrobe and Eric (Marsha), of The Woodlands, Texas; one daughter, Penny (Maria), of Smithfield, N.J.; three grandchildren, Ashley, Amy, and William; three sisters, Betty Morasco, of Flemington, Anna Wink (Norwood), of Lock Haven, and Lorraine McAulay, of Howard; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Red Hat Society, Howard Civic Club and supporter of Howard Fire Company. 520 Gordon Earl Confer, 76, of Howard, died Monday, March 4, 2002, in Centre Community Hospital. He was born Aug. 25, 1925 in Howard Township, the son of Michael Earl and Eva Leah Schenck Confer. He was married to Anna Grace Pletcher on Jan. 30, 1949 in the Howard United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2000. Funeral services will be Friday, March 8, 2002, at 11 a.m., in the Howard United Methodist Church, Main Street, Howard. The Rev. David Trostle will officiate. Burial will be in Schencks Cemetery. 521 Gordon Raymond Huss, 90, of Ottawa Lake, Michigan, died Friday, November 4, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Born September 24, 1926, he was the son of George Antone and Alice Lena (Pfeiffer) Huss, Sylvania, Ohio. He graduated from Sylvania High School in 1944, and entered the US Navy in early 1945, serving during WWII as instructor of radar and virtual PPI reflector in Oahu, Hawaii and later on a Landing Craft prior to the end of the war.

He Married Emma Jean Bell in 1947, and together they raised two daughters. She preceded him in death, August 1980.

He enjoyed working on his grandfather’s farm as a young boy, then as a delivery boy for the Red and White Store in Sylvania. He studied tool design at Macomber Trade School, later working for Boice Crane, Surface Combustion, Libbey Glass, Toledo Scales and the Saline Ford Plant, retiring in 1985. He collected and repaired clocks and watches.

He married Lorena Grosteffon in 1982, and they enjoyed traveling, camping and engine shows together until her death in 2013. He was a member of the Whiteford Wesleyan Church.

Surviving are daughters Geri (David) Crots and Mary (Daniel) Redlinger, grandchildren, Jon (Jana) Crots, Jason (Heather) Crots, Nathan (Rachael) Redlinger, and Carin (David) Dixon, great-grandchildren, Emma, Rylie, Grace, Wyatt, Julian, Marin, Giavona, Clayton, Kenedy, Sydney, Sylas, Avery, Cassidy and Andrew and brother Norman Huss.

We, the daughters of Gordon R. Huss, will be forever grateful for dad’s example of perseverance, servanthood and faith in God. We reminded him continually that “the best is yet to come”, and now in heaven he knows that all too well.

Special thanks to the doctors and caregivers of Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Pastor Deisler and to friends and family for their support and prayers.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 10:am at Whiteford Wesleyan Church, Ottawa Lake, Michigan followed by funeral at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Rick Deisler officiating. 525 H. Wynn Pletcher February 13, 1937-June 23, 2018 H. Wynn Pletcher, 81, longtime resident of Mifflinburg, most recently of Lewisburg, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. He was born on February 13, 1937 in Lock Haven, a son of the late Harold and Anna (Kovacic) Pletcher. On November 19, 1966 he married the former Linda Christ, who preceded him in death on November 28, 2002. Together they celebrated 36 years of marriage. Wynn was a 1955 graduate of Bald Eagle Area high school and served honorably in the United States Army. He later retired from the former W.M. Wagner Sales, Winfield. Wynn was an active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Lewisburg, and enjoyed participating in volunteer missions. Wynn was also an avid gardener. Most important was his family and time spent together. Surviving are four children, Steve Pletcher and his wife, Michelle, of Mifflinburg, Krista Stephens, of Fairfax, VA, Nicole Farbman and her husband, Adam, of Hagerstown, MD, and Eric Pletcher, of Mountain Top; one brother, Jay Pletcher and his wife, Marie, of Blanchard; one sister-in-law, Janet Pletcher, of Bellefonte; and five grandchildren, Erika and Sarah Pletcher, Randy Connor Stephens, and Jack and Ella Farbman. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by one brother, Darl Pletcher. Friends and family will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 42 S. 4th St., Lewisburg, where a Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. with his pastor, the Rev. 532 Harold D. (Tony) McCool, of 200 Wyndtree Court, Bellefonte, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016, at Mount Nittany Hospital in State College.

Tony, as he was known, was born Aug. 23, 1933, in Potters Mills to the late Harvey D. McCool and Helen M. Snyder McCool. Tony is survived by his wife, Laura Jean Leathers McCool. He is also survived by a daughter, Adelaide Beth McCool Linn (Michael) and a grandson, Spencer Linn, from Lower Gwynedd.

After graduation, Tony joined the military serving his country in the U.S. Army in Korea for two years active duty and active Army Reserves for 20 years, retiring from the military with 22 years of service.

He was employed by Piper Aircraft for 29 years, retiring in 1984 as lead man of the electrical department.

His hobbies were wood crafting and fishing.

He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Bellefonte.

Contributions in his memory can be made to your local SPCA.

Tony’s service will be private at the convenience of the family and his internment will be in Schencks Cemetery in Howard.

Harold proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a faithful member of Faith UCC, in New Cumberland, for 33 years, and was a member of Trinity UCC in Palmyra. Harold worked for Donald B. Stabler Construction Co. as a road construction supervisor for 36 years. He was a member of the American Society of Highway Engineers, VFW Fox-Eichelberger Post 7415 and American Legion William H. Nauss Post 143.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Lisa K. Mills; a son, Harold R. Amick and wife Lillian M.; 3 grandchildren, Lewis C.J. Mills, Jr., Lee T. Mills, Catherine A. Amick; 2 great grandchildren, Andrew D. and Emily E. Amick; brother, Robert M. Amick and wife Sarah; 2 sisters, Doris Holter and Betty Motter. He was predeceased by a grandson, James A. Howard, Pennsylvania - Harold L. Spicer Sr, 94, of Howard, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born on June 8, 1930, in Union Township, he was the son of the late Toner A. and Edith (Hoover) Spicer. On June 27, 1954, He married the love of his life, Stella Rachel (Confer) Spicer, who survives at home. They shared 70 wonderful years together.

Harold was a family man. Spending time with those he loved was the most important thing to him. He traveled all across the country with his family, visiting 49 out of the 50 states. He also enjoyed relaxing and watching western movies.

He attended Bellefonte Area High School and then went on to work for Cerro Metal for 51 years.

He was also a member of the Howard Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, Stella, Harold is survived by a son, LeRoy Spicer; a daughter, Rochelle Spicer; granddaughter, Brittany Cornelius (Brennan); and two great-grandchildren, Eliot and Graham.

Along with his parents, Harold was preceded in death by all 20 of his siblings.

A time of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, and again from 12 to 1 p.m., on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Singer Kader Neff Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 135 W Main St, Howard, PA. A funeral service will immediately follow on Thursday, with Pastor Craig Rose Officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Howard United Methodist Church.

537 Harold “Gene” Summerson, 87, of McElhattan, passed away Monday, May 9, 2022, at Jersey Shore Hospital.
Born July 9, 1934 in Renovo, he was a son of the late Harold “Whistle” and Violet Durendetto Summerson.
On July 18, 1992, he married his love, the former Leotta Merrill, with whom he shared nearly 30 years of marriage.
Gene was the former owner of 4 Season Hotel & Motel, Renovo, and also worked part-time at K & L Auto Sales.
He was a member of Swissdale United Methodist Church.
Gene liked going to yard sales. Along with his wife, he loved traveling, especially enjoying driving on road trips.
Most important to Gene, though, was his family.
In addition to his wife, Leotta M. Summerson, of McElhattan, he is survived by two children, Eugenia “Jeannie” Lee and Patrick (Jane) Summerson; four step-children: Dennis (Sue) Caprio, Charlene (Glenn) Rich, Tammy (Clay) Allen and Steve (Sis) Butler; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Sylvia Stone and Gary Summerson.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, with Pastor Jay Saldana officiating.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

538 Harriet Ann Pletcher, 74, of Lock Haven, died at Lock Haven Extended Care Unit on Sunday, November 16, 2008. She was born in Howard, PA on November 6, 1934, daughter of the late Joseph C. & Ruth O. Devinney Pletcher.
Harriet was an accomplished homemaker, was of the Protestant faith, was an avid soap opera watcher, and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She attended Mt. Eagle School in Howard Twp. in her younger years.
She is survived by her daughters; Theresa A. (Harry) Ramser and Donna K. Embick, both of Lock Haven, one brother, Joseph A Pletcher of Bellefonte, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Carl L. Pletcher, brothers; James, John, and Carl, and sisters, Florence Pletcher and Janet Daughenbaugh.
Funeral services will be held at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall at 8pm on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 with Major Margaret Johnson officiating. Born December 24, 1925, in Lock Haven, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Martha (Meckley) Berry. On October 13, 1946, she married Leonard W. Shilling who preceded her in death on May 19, 2013. She retired from the admissions office at Pennsylvania State University and was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bellefonte. Harriet is survived by her daughter, Claudia (Wayne) Weber, of Chelsea, Ala.; granddaughter, Michelle (Jeff) Confarolta, of Attleboro, Mass.; and a great grandson, Alex, of Attleboro, Mass. 540 Harry M. Murtorff, 64, of 237 N. Allegheny street, Bellefonte, died suddenly at the Hotel Milton in Milton yesterday at 11:33 p.m.. He died oa a heart attachk. Mr. Murtorff who was employed by the H. C. Prutzman Hardware Company of Altoona, as a representative, was accompanied by his wife. He was ill over the weekend but resumed his work early this week. Mr. Murtorff was born in Scotia Oct. 10, 1885, a son of Calvin and Mary Farber Murtorff. His first wife, the former, Viola Robb, died about five years ago. His second wife, the former Helen Miller, whom he married Dec. 19, 1948, survives. He leaves a sister, Mrs. May Pennington, State College, and a brother William of Harrisburg. A well-known resident of Bellefonte most of his life, Mr. Murtorff was employed by the former Potter-Hoy Hardware Company for 20 years. He was an owner of the former Bellefonte Hardware Co., and was empooyed by the O. A. Kline Hardware Company before accepting the positon with the Prutzman Co. He was a member of the Bellefonte Methodist Church, the Elks, I.O.O.F., the United Commerical Travelers and was a founder of the Sycamore Club. 542 Hassel Curtis Thompson of Bellefonte, a draftsman for the Warner Company, died at the Centre county Hospital at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 1947, following a four-day illness. Born July 8, 1922 in Bellfonte, he was the son of Lot C. and Julia D. Steel Thompson and was aged 24 years, 10 months and 6 days. He was married December 30, 1940, to Thelma Jordan who survives with his mother, Mrs. Julia Jordan (sic) of State College, and two children, James Edward and Nancy Ann, both at home. He is also survived by the following half-brothers; Chester C. Thompson, Altoona; Willis thompson, Orviston; George Thompson, Philipsburg; and Daniel Holter, Bellefonte. Deceased was a member of the Bellefonte Methodist church and the Bellefonte Moose Lodge. He waas a veteran of World War II serving 14 months overseas. 548 Helen Irene Cavinee 88 of Crooksville went home to be with the lord on Saturday September 4, 2010 at her residence.

Helen was born in New Straitsville on July 18, 1922 to the late Newton and Bertha Gaston Auker. She was a life long resident of Crooksville, a graduate of Crooksville High School, and the last charter member of Crooksville Free Methodist Church. She has received numerous awards for her loving care as a foster mother of 76 children. She most recently attended Oakfield Wesleyan Church. Helen was a wonderful mother.

She is survived by a son Mark (Diana) Cavinee of Akron, two daughters Rachel (Jeff) Brooks of Crooksville and Rebecca (Charles) Helber of Logan, a special niece June (Bob) Hughes of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, seven grandchildren Cindy Orley, Michelle Rouzzo, Brian Cavinee, Jennifer Helber, Erika Helber, Matthew Brooks, and Joshua Brooks. Five great grandchildren CalvinOrley, Malia Orley, Andrew Cavinee, Matthew Cavinee, and Gracie Ruzzo.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband Jesse Paul Cavinee, a son Theron Paul Cavinee, four brothers Edward, Walter, James, and Harold Auker, and three sisters Lena, Clara, and Lucille.

550 Helen M. Kunes, 78, a resident of the Ridgecrest Community in Howard, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at the Pinnacle Health, Harrisburg Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer and Myasthenia Gravis.

She was born in Dubuque, Iowa, on Sept. 7, 1938, a daughter of the late Walter and Margurite Richter.

Helen was employed with the U.S. Postal service for 22 years retiring from the Beech Creek post office.

She graduated from Aquinas Catholic High School in Lacrosse, Wis.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Richard A. Kunes.

She was of the Catholic faith. Helen enjoyed collecting stamps, and doing jigsaw puzzles, but her greatest pleasure came from spending time with her family, particularly Sunday dinners and time spent with her grandchildren.

Helen is survived by two daughters, Debra J. (Charles) Mitchell of Beech Creek and Barbara A. (Ron) Young of Bellefonte; three sons, DuWayne A. (Susan) Kunes of Lock Haven, Steven W. (Valrie) Kunes of Middleburg and Daniel W. (Nicole) Kunes of Beech Creek; a brother, Nicholas Richter of East Moline, Ill., and a sister, Joyce Erikson of Elroy, Wis.; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 17, 2017, at 7 p.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main St., Howard. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be at Schencks Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
